Welcome to NYPRR

NYPRR is the leading monthly newsletter on ethics and professionalism for lawyers admitted in New York State. It is written by professors and practitioners in the field of lawyer and judicial ethics. NYPRR is an accredited provider authorized by the New York CLE Board to issue monthly CLE credits to experienced New York lawyers. A lawyer may earn .5 CLE credits in Ethics and Professionalism by reading one issue of NYPRR and answering 16 out of 20 questions correctly on a corresponding self assessment test. To qualify to submit a test, a lawyer must be either a subscribing solo practitioner or an associate or member of a subscribing law firm, law department, organization or institution. Solo practitioners pay $59 for a year's subscription of twelve issues ($99 for two years). All other subscribers pay $245 for a year's subscription ($395 for two years).

Experienced attorneys may earn 6 CLE credit hours in Ethics and Professionalism per enrollment year from NYPRR in this manner. The CLE Rules provide that "at least four (4) credit hours [of the minimum of 24 credit hours in each biennial reporting cycle] shall be in Ethics and Professionalism."

Subscribers are issued a subscription key which may be used by all lawyers associated with the subscriber.

Lawyers associated with a subscriber must first register as members. Upon registration, they are assigned a user name and password. They may then login, download and print any issue of the newsletter, and answer and submit the corresponding self-assessment test online, or by fax or mail. A charge of $15 per test is imposed to cover the expense of processing the answers.

The lawyer's answers to a self-assessment test are graded electronically if the test is completed online. If the lawyer has answered 16 out of 20 questions correctly, the CLE credit of .5 credit hours in Ethics and Professionalism will be entered on the lawyers Certificate of Attendance.

NYPRR will continue to honor the requests of subscribers and lawyers who wish to receive and process their newsletters and tests by mail or fax.
